10 Most Underrated Actresses Currently Working In Television
4. Lizzy Caplan (Masters Of Sex)
Lizzy Caplan is a perpetual scene stealer in whichever show she happens to be cast in, regardless of the genre or size of the role. Of course, she tends to favor characters that reflect her real life wry, sardonic wit, a style she first displayed for a wider audience as outcast Janis Ian in Mean Girls.
Caplan made her first TV appearance as Jason Segal's goody two shoes girlfriend on the Paul Feig/Judd Apatow-helmed cult classic Freaks and Geeks. From there she's deftly weaved herself into the fabric of several other shows, whether it be as a principal player in yet another criminally overlooked comedy, Party Down, or in smaller, recurring roles on popular fare like New Girl, The League, and True Blood.
She's currently finding her groove as the increasingly overwhelmed researcher of human sexuality, Virginia Johnson, on Showtime's Masters of Sex. And as is the case with literally everything else the actress has done, Caplan manages to stand out in just about every scene she's in. (Then again, it would be hard for a beautiful woman who repeatedly bares her breasts not to stand out, especially opposite Michael Sheen.)
Despite her increased productivity over the last few years, it seems Caplan is still relegated to another "that girl" in the public eye.
