5. Intro To Recycled Cinema

Another great late-in-the-game episode that doesn't get enough recognition is Intro to Recycled Cinema. The episode opens on a seemingly unconnected commercial, until a now-famous Chang exclaims, "Ham, girl!" When they discover that Abed has footage of Chang, they encourage him to finish his film so Greendale can own a movie starring the Ham Girl Guy.

Though Abed resists, he eventually caves, leading to the group shooting Chief Starr and the Raiders of the Galaxy, a parody of Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Because the cast don't care and the budget is non-existent, the shoot goes hilariously wrong. Filled with Easter Eggs and parodies of every sci-fi trope in the book, the film goes about as poorly as any film can go, despite a scene stealing performance from Garrett as Glip Glop. In the end, it all turns out to be worthless, as Chang already has trashed his Hollywood career.

This episode also shows growth from both Jeff and Abed, as each makes a sacrifice he never would have made in Season 1. Jeff accepts that he's not the star of the show, and Abed comes to terms with the fact that his movies won't always be good. This hysterical and poignant episode deserves more credit than it gets.
