10 Most Underrated Community Episodes

3. Analysis Of Cork-Based Networking

Season 5's Analysis Of Cork-Based Networking may be the most important episode in all of Community. It follows Geothermal Escapism, aka Troy's Goodbye. Since everyone loves the fan favourite jock-turned-nerd character, fans worried they'd have to fat dog the rest of the series without him. ("Fat dog" is an old phrase meaning grin and bear it, but you've heard this expression your entire life so there's no real need to explain what it means.)

The episode follows the Save Greendale Committee as they plan a dance, and, after Chang delivers an emotional speech about how they never take him seriously, they go with his idea for a "Bear Down for Midterms" theme. However, Neil soon tells them that this is inappropriate given a recent bear-related tragedy, and Chang remembers where he got the idea. Before Annie can see their mistake, they cover up their bear decorations, turning it into a "fat dog dance." The plan goes without a hitch, until, during Chang's new dance, the Fat Dog, Garrett accidentally knocks down the dog decorations, and loudly proclaims "IT'S A BEAR DANCE!"

This episode deserves more credit for proving Community can still work without Troy, and for featuring Ken Jeong's favourite performance from his entire career.
