10 Most Underrated Parks And Recreation Characters

1. Jean-Ralphio Saperstein

Parks And Recreation Dennis Feinstein

If the Sapersteins have taught us anything, it is that bad things certainly do come in threes.

Played by the hilarious yet loveable Ben Schwartz (that's right, he's not Joe Keery), Jean-Ralphio Saperstein is pure irritation and annoyance distilled into human form. Like Mona-Lisa and his father Lu, he is the woOoOorst. But that is a key part of what makes him great.

A recurring character since season two, Jean-Ralphio is always down for a high-concept ploy, and is never on the winning team, often dragging Tom under with him. After all, he is the one who introduced Tom to his toxic twin sister.

But such is Schwartz's take on the character that we can never really hate him. He's smooth, he has the gift of the gab, but he just never knows when to stop. He may have made his money the old fashion way by getting run over by a Lexus, but his comedic timing is second to none.

What is often overlooked is how much of a tragic character he also is, never having the foresight or social wherewithal to do anything to help him progress in life, having been brought up to see the world as a money-dispensing playground. Flash forward to 2022, and his final appearance on the show, and Jean-Ralphio is still running scams with Mona-Lisa. It's funny watching him run from the priest at his own funeral, but it can't help but feel we've given him so much less than the attention he deserves.
