10 Most Underrated TV Shows Of 2020 (So Far)

1. Stargirl

Locke and Key
DC Universe

The latest superhero series to make its presence felt in an overcrowded universe, Stargirl has faced something of an uphill battle because both its light-hearted tone and its presence on The CW - the home of DC's Arrowverse shows - has resulted in a number of people dismissing its potential. But the truth is that it has much more to offer than the vast majority of shows in its genre.

What sets Stargirl apart from the rest is that it walks the line between both network and streaming superhero shows to perfection. Though it airs on The CW, it's a DC Universe original, meaning that it isn't confined to the restrictions of traditional superhero television, refusing to follow the typical 40-minute villain-of-the-week approach. However, unlike other shows on the streaming service, it doesn't go overboard on mature content either, using the lack of length and content restrictions sparingly.

As for the show itself, Stargirl - which sees a young Courtney Whitmore attempt to become Starman's successor and form a new iteration of the Justice Society of America to battle the Injustice Society - is a genuinely enjoyable thrill-ride. The writing is strong, the acting is fantastic and the production values are nothing short of cinematic, making the whole thing feel like an immersive 13-part film.

One of the best new shows of the year, Stargirl commands your attention and it sure as hell deserves more love.
