9. The Left Shark Katy Perry's Half-Time Super Bowl Performance
Depending on who you are, you'll probably have a very different opinion on the WTF aspect of this entry. But first, the context. During Katy Perry's half-time performance at the 2015 Super Bowl, astute watchers noticed something slightly off about one of her dancers, specifically the "Left Shark" that danced alongside her. The shark seemed ill-prepared and out of time when compared to the Right Shark. So a dancer messed up what's so WTF about that? Well, it appears to have been a combination of things. For a start, the playful shark costume leant a surreal quality to the whole thing, likely making it much more notable. But it was the internet's reaction to the débâcle that made it truly WTF. Millions of people all over the world posted about it, spawning fan art, parody Twitter accounts and even Left Shark fan fiction. Some people thought the shark itself was WTF, but it honestly feels like the most WTF part was how the world at large responded to what can only be described as nothing more than mediocre dancing.
