We all need to start watching Almost Human. Watch it live, DVR it, but do it soon, because the imaginative science fiction program looks like it's going to go the way of Firefly. It takes place in a futuristic society, where a human police officer is paired up with an android. It's basically your typical human-robot buddy cop show. The mishandling of Almost Human is a story we've all heard before. You have charismatic leads in Star Trek's Karl Urban and Michael Ealy, who are tremendously skilled at playing off one another and have a chemistry that could fuel the show for years. It's an innovative sci-fi show that has a lot of potential to grow and find a passionate fan base. There's certainly a place for it in the network television universe, where there's a great deal of fantasy shows at present but is largely lacking in science fiction. But instead, the episodes have been rushed and released out of order, which makes it feel disjointed. It strikes me that the show needs time to settle itself into its established universe, and would benefit greatly from a little more time to breathe before being cancelled. But this is Fox, after all. We mustn't expect miracles. Status: Unknown, possibly to be cancelled
