With the proven viewership of Agents of SHIELD, the unprecedented success of the Marvel Universe right now, and a general step towards more superhero shows (on this list alone we've got three, to say nothing of the several that are already on the air), it seems only natural that studios would be tripping over themselves to capitalize on the opportunity. And in terms of strong, likeable, and realistic females in such a male-dominated medium, Peggy Carter is probably the best Marvel has. She found success during an incredibly sexist era in the army, of all places, yet manages to avoid either sacrificing her femininity or becoming a cliche of the sexy tough woman. The first Captain America film really demonstrated a flair for capturing the essence of the war era with a unique nostalgic style, and we're eager to see that transferred to the early days of SHIELD, which Peggy is understood to have played a crucial part in developing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0XOPxGnMCE The show will be debuting midseason, giving it a shorter episode run and more opportunity for tight, well-crafted storytelling that avoids feeling bloated to fit the average American television season.
