10 New TV Shows Of Fall 2017 Guaranteed To Succeed
8. Black Lightning
Black Lightning is basically the live action version of that scene from The Incredibles where Mr. Freeze is demanding to know where his wife put his supersuit. And who doesn't want that expanded into a network television show? Cress Williams plays a long since retired superhero who abandoned his heroic duties after seeing the effect they were having on his family life, then reluctantly gets back in the game after his teenage daughter attracts the attention of a local gang.
Black Lightning will air on The CW, a network that has hit a groove when it comes to DC superhero shows. (One could argue that they're the only ones who have discovered the right tone for them to take.) Interestingly enough, the creators have stated that it will not take place in the larger established universe alongside Arrow and The Flash, instead existing on its own. This addition to their superhero lineup shows the interest the network has in solidifying their position in the comic book adaptation game, and gives them the opportunity to create a more diverse, well-rounded stable of shows.
