10 Most Oblivious TV Law Enforcers

1. Dexter €“ Miami-Dade Homicide

With the notable exception of Sgt. James Doakes, Miami-Dade Homicide is probably the most inept collection of detectives ever put to screen. Despite Dexter repeatedly saying he has no idea how to interact with people, everyone gets along with him and think nothing of his unexplained absences and late night boating. No one ever suspects the socially awkward, blood obsessed forensics guy unless the plot is running low on villains for him to kill. I could have focused solely on Deb as she's meant to be the best detective on the force, yet never suspects her emotionally bankrupt brother until she literally walks in and catches him in the act. She's not the only guilty party here though; the whole department frequently prove to be dangerously inept. Even when they bring in outside help in the form of serial killer hunter Frank Lundy he fails to catch Dexter, barely even suspecting him because he's too busy trying to get into Deb's pants. Everyone in the homicide unit is either an emotional wreck or a weirdo, the only way the writers could think to develop characters was to either have them become self-destructive, marry each other or both. Angel and Quinn were too busy being mismatched partners to care much about actual police work and everyone else was in some sort of bitchy high school conflict. On second thought, I don't blame the characters here €“ the writers never gave them a chance. What do you think? Have I missed any dim detectives? Share your thoughts below!
