9. Mr. Connors Becomes A WWE Superstar
W.T.F. (Season 13, Episode 10)
After attending a live WWE show, the Boys promptly join their school’s wrestling programme. However, they soon sour on it, dismissing the amateur wrestling presented by Mr. Connors as “gay”. The former students establish the Wrestling Takedown Federation, which quickly pulls in an audience with the town’s redneck population.
The popularity of W.T.F.’s brand of wrestling causes Principle Victoria to cancel the school’s wrestling program citing its “adult subject matter”. Connors is jobless. Upon learning that WWE’s chairman Vince McMahon is attending a W.T.F. show, Connor’s plots his revenge.
After a failed attempt to kill McMahon with a rocket launcher, Connors storms the ring ready to rant. The crowd are initially hostile to Connors explaining “real wrestling”. However, they are swayed when he reveals the Boys “took his job”. This courts support with the redneck crowd. McMahon dubs the monologue “one of the finest wrestling performances” he’s ever seen. He signs Connors to a WWE contract, and dismisses the Boys as “decent” but lacking Connor’s “raw wrestling talent”.
In a colourful and fantastical episode, the triumph of the underdog is a satisfying conclusion, even if he does sell out his brand of “wrasslin”.
