10 Once Awesome TV Shows That Now Suck

7. The Simpsons

Currently airing its 25th season the Simpsons is the longest running sitcom, animated series, and scripted prime-time television show of all time. Unfortunately, as of today that's all the series has going for it. What was once one of the greatest, funniest, and most clever television series of all time has become nothing more than a bland and overrated fixture on the FOX network. The sad truth is that beginning with season ten the series took a definite nosedive, leaving us with far more to regret than to cherish. It's okay if you still continue to watch the show, but you cannot deny that it has lacked in quality for over a decade and that it's time to let it go. Nothing new has happened since the series first premiered. While the Simpsons has gained media attention with the announcement of a permanent death in the series this is the first instance of something exciting happening since 1995. The structure and format of the show has been exhausted and what was once witty writing has become a series of cheap jokes begging to be laughed at. The Simpsons just isn't really funny anymore and has been lacking in this department for a long time. It feels as if the only reason the show is still watched by so many is due to sheer nostalgia alone. The voice acting has dropped in quality, the characters have become unrelatable, and innovation is completely absent. At this point it really doesn't matter if FOX cancels the series or not €“ it's already twelve years past its prime and nothing can save it.
