10 Origins Of Star Trek Props You Won't Believe

2. Praetor Shinzon's Knife

Many may not know that Praetor Shinzon's blade in Star Trek: Nemesis was actually a real knife. Specifically, it was a 1999 Jackal knife designed by Kit Rae for Gil Hibben. In the movie, Shinzon used it to injure Commander Riker's arm and nearly kill Captain Picard aboard the Scimitar.

Interestingly, this same exact knife also appeared frequently on the classic show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, where it was given to the character Faith by Mayor Wilkins, and wielded by her and Buffy several times, most notably when Buffy used it to lure the Mayor into a trap in Sunnydale High School, after he had ascended into the embodiment of the Old One Olvikan.

The knife was designed to be intimidating. Its double blade and strange curved edges made it feel more like a work of art than a weapon. This matched perfectly with the brutal elegance of Romulan and Reman culture in Star Trek.
