10 Plot Twists That Totally Ruined Awesome TV Shows
3. Lost - The Island Has A Cork That Stops It From Sinking (Season 6)
I don't think any show in TV history has hinged on plot twists as much as Lost, for almost every episode featured a shocking twist or revelation of some kind. The final season seemed to be wrapping up nicely, and though many found the final twists and turns to be unsatisfactory, the one that annoyed me the most was the revelation that the metaphorical "cork" that had been discussed throughout the show's history was in fact a physical cork in the "heart" of the island. The finale reveals that there is a giant cork in the heart of the island, and is about as silly as Lost ever got (with the "tunnel of light" being a close second), with Desmond removing it and bringing the island within moments of sinking, which would cause a global catastrophe. Jack manages to re-insert the cork and save the island, but by this point I had given up on the show giving us a satisfactory reveal and I just started laughing at what was an abject failure of resolution. Because of the tunnel, the cork and the hug-fest in the church at the end, Lost was forever tainted to me as a show that couldn't live up to its own lofty ambitions and hype.
