10 Plots From Stargate That Were Just Dropped

2. The Return

In season 3 of Stargate Atlantis, more than 100 Ancients are found at near-light speed (but not quite) attempting to traverse the gulf between the Milky Way and Pegasus Galaxies. The Daedalus manages to get their attention and they interact, allowing the Ancients to return to their original home, Atlantis.

The Ancients ask the Expedition to leave, who begrudgingly do so. After all of the main characters go back to Earth and work on different projects for a while, all of the Ancients are wiped out by a group of somewhat vengeful Asuran Replicators. The main characters have to rescue Jack O'Neill and Richard Woolsey while retaking the city.

Now, you're probably thinking 'yeah, that's what happens in the episode, it's not a dropped plot or anything, why is this on the list?' Well, it's simple.

This was a terrible two-parter! A group of Ancients show up and are killed five minutes later? That's not so much a dropped plot as it is a dropped opportunity! What could the characters have learned from them? What interactions did we never get to see play out? Some serious shortcuts were taken with the writing here, a real shame in an otherwise excellent show.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
