The other major announcement (with minor actual concrete information) that Marvel made this week is that they're going to produce a spin-off from their Agents Of SHIELD TV series. A pretty brave move, considering audiences still haven't quite come round to the show, and there will most likely be rioting in the streets if they don't also renew the vastly superior Agent Carter. Like the animated project they let slip about there's been absolutely no actual information about this SHIELD spin-off, but here's a crazy idea: what if they are one and the same? What if they're working on an animated SHIELD series, which would deal with the budgetary issues that stop the TV show replicating the superhero bluster of the movies? That's always been one of the main drawbacks of the SHIELD telly show, with audiences expecting the heroes from the movies to appear way more often than they do (in fact, they don't at all) and always being disappointed at the lack of scope. Right now Marvel are publishing a SHIELD comic book that involves the characters from the TV show, but each issue teams them up with a different superhero. It's been pretty fun.
