5. Ant-Man
Let's be real: Ant-Man is not going to be the start of a brave new trilogy of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That the film got made in the first place is a miracle, and probably more down to the amount of money that had been sunk into the project whilst Edgar Wright was still on board. Now it's he director of The Break-Up who's helming a movie where Michael Douglas helps Paul Rudd shrink to fight crime. It's a goofy concept, and it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out in the live action field (especially given that even the more jovial of MCU films are still pretty serious business), but it's not really one that holds up to a separate franchise. Plus you'd have to keep paying Michael Douglas essentially just to sit in a room and tell Paul Rudd to concentrate. So why not spin it off into a cartoon? You could do even more with the shrinking concept, with Ant-Man exploring all sorts of weird science-y landscapes on an atomic level it would be difficult to replicate in live action. You'd lose the expensive cast. And you'd have a concept that, to be honest, sounds like it'd actually work a lot better as a cartoon instead of a movie with actual people saying the words Ant-Man out loud.
