10 Quintessential Doctor Who Moments From The 12th Doctor
6. Mourning A Companion
Series nine brought about the death of Clara Oswald. Clara had been The Doctor’s longest-running companion since the 2005 revival, making her death quite a blow to his psyche. And worse yet, it was his fault. He’d inadvertently taught Clara that being reckless and laughing in death’s face had no consequences. And in the end it was her own hubris that did her in.
On top of that, it was the immortal Ashildr who created the instrument of Clara’s demise, leading to The Doctor once again blaming himself for Ashildr living well beyond the ninth century where she belonged. This exceedingly dark episode was quite the contrast to typical Doctor Who fare.
