10 Reasons Better Call Saul Is Better Than The Walking Dead

1. You Know Where It Is Going, But It Is Still Unpredictable

Better Call Saul The Walking Dead

Being a prequel to Breaking Bad, we ultimately know what the future holds for most of the main cast, what we don't know is how they actually get there. Both Saul and Mike are in very different situations to what they will be by the time Walter White decides to break bad. Mike still has a strong moral code and Jimmy is still trying to fit into polite society. Despite already knowing the destination, the journey we are being taken on to get there is gripping and thoroughly enjoyable.

There is still mystery surrounding some of the newer characters though. The writers have much more leeway with characters such as Kim and Chuck. The only thing we know is that they aren't around a few years later during the events of Breaking Bad. We don't know if they are dead, living elsewhere or just hidden in the background, but we certainly want to find out.

The Walking Dead, on the other hand, just tends to repeat the same cycle over and over again. The group finds somewhere safe to live and they settle down, but then they have problems with some other survivors and eventually lose their sanctuary. People die, the group moves on and the cycle repeats. This can, and probably will, continue for as long as AMC wants to keep renewing the show, but it needs to stop. Perhaps they could ask Vince Gilligan for some advice with regards to story telling and provide some much needed direction to The Walking Dead's circular narrative.
