10 Reasons Deep Space Nine Is Secretly The Best Star Trek

7. Great Season Long Arcs

Star Trek isn't really known for their season long arcs. Oh sure, more recent shows like Picard have begun introducing them, but every Star Trek show before them were very much made for the television model, and as such didn't really have every episode lead directly into the next.

Yet nonetheless, each season of Deep Space Nine still managed to implement season long story arcs in between the standalone episodes, and they're all fantastic.

From the first two seasons dealing with the tumultuous rebuild of Bajor, to the dominion arc of season 4, to learning what became of the mirror universe from the original series, every season of Deep Space Nine deals with an overarching storyline, while still making more than enough room for standalone tales that otherwise wouldn't have been able to be told if the show focused too heavily on these larger narratives.

Sure, some storylines are better than others, but when you watch Deep Space Nine, you legitimately feel like things are progressing, and that each episode is, in some small way, important to the larger tapestry.
