10 Reasons Game Of Thrones Is No Good For George R. R. Martin

9. Sexposition As A Storytelling Crutch Sexposition is the godawful narrative device whereby characters make clear in dialogue their background, their recent actions and/or their motivations, while one or more people (not necessarily said characters) are naked and/or having sex. It€™s a horrendous thing, and it appears to have been invented for Game Of Thrones, as it€™s rarely been seen anywhere else. It occurs with obnoxious regularity in the first two seasons, but thankfully not nearly as often in seasons three and four. Let€™s make this clear. Sexposition is a lazy storytelling trick. Exposition alone is bad enough, but exposition that requires T&A to sell it is a new low for television, even cable television. But €˜sexposition€™ as a word is almost as bad. Yes, that€™s a word now. If it makes it into the dictionary, we€™re going to have to have words with someone. Sexposition is not a good legacy to bequeath to the world. And yet bad storytellers in all kind of shows are copying it now, Black Sails being the most recent offender. Please make it stop.
