10 Reasons Game Of Thrones Is No Good For George R. R. Martin

5. This Is The Diet Tyrion Lannister

This could be considered heresy, but€ Tyrion Lannister is not nearly as interesting in Game Of Thrones. In A Song Of Ice And Fire, he€™s described as being far uglier than he is in the show. Let€™s face it €“ little person or not, Peter Dinklage is a handsome devil. In the novels, his looks are a constant talking point and a source of bitterness to him. When he€™s attacked on the Blackwater, he doesn€™t acquire a dashingly piratical scar, he loses most of his nose. He€™s smarter and more Machiavellian in the books, which makes his downfall all the harder €“ he€™s out-thought and outclassed and has to become the Imp they all consider him in order to achieve vengeance. He€™s far less charming, but a good deal funnier in the novels. With the success of the character in the show, it looks very much as if Dinklage has been asked to play him more sympathetically in later seasons, and the beginning of season four sees him as very much the sarcastic but noble underdog. That€™s just not our Tyrion. Finally, his accent is hilarious. What€™s going on there? He sounds like a South African with a deviated septum.
