10 Reasons Murder House Is The Best Season Of American Horror Story

While we are only just beginning to unravel the interconnected web of Murphy's seasons, three Murder House characters went on to appear in the show's fifth season - proving that long after the first season, we are still harking back to the original.

Christine Estabrook re-channeled her best Martha Huber from Desperate Housewives as smart-mouthed real estate agent Marcy. You may remember that Marcy was the vindictive agent who sold the original house Chad and Patrick, and then the equally-doomed Harmons. Thankfully Marcy got what was coming to her at the hands of the Hotel Cortez, and met a grisly demise to a pair of vampires.

Talking of vampires, Dr. Charles Montgomery served as the botched abortionist for Lady Gaga's demon baby Bartholomew. Montgomery himself was no stranger to occult offspring, with his own baby Infantata crawling around the basement in Murder House.Finally, the most notable returnee for Hotel was the appearance of Sarah Paulson's psychic, Billie Dean Howard. Originally pipped as a fraud, Howard's return at the end of Hotel showed that she did possess some power and went all meta (as only AHS can) to film a paranormal show for Lifetime.

However, the Murder House characters may not be down and out just yet. It is reported that one of the show's future seasons (not the next) will be a hybrid of Murder House and other fan-favourite season, Coven. This means that Season 1's demonic Michael, and his groovy granny Constance Langdon, could come back yet. Apart from that, we pretty much left the infamous murder house cast-less in the bloodbath that was Season 1.
