10 Reasons Murder House Is The Best Season Of American Horror Story
2. Those Title Credits
That screechy scratching of Cesar Davila-Irizarry's song, aptly titled "American Horror Story," paired with Kyle Cooper's satanic imagery - American Horror Story's premiere season had some genuinely terrifying titles. No surprise really given that Davila-Irizarry teamed up with Nine Inch Nails/Saw's Charlie Clouser to compose the music, and Kyle Cooper's company, Prologue, also created the titles for Se7en and The Walking Dead.
However, look a little closer, and there is more that just spooky imagery to Horror Story's title cards. As Murder House began to hype itself up, Murphy told EW:
"The title sequence is almost like a mystery. By the time you see the ninth episode of this season, every image in that title sequence will be explained. So for example, What are the jars in the basement? What is the mystery of the floating white Christening dress? Why is somebody holding hedge clippers that are bloody? Each time you watch it and you watch the week's episode you'll be able to say, 'Oh that's why that's in there!'"
Did you spot all the clues? It was the first time we saw those clever titles, and little did we know, the mystery was just starting. Now at Season 6, everyone has been asking, "Where the hell are those Roanoke titles?" It just isn't AHS without them - who knows though, maybe Murphy has a treat for the finale.
