10 Reasons The Great British Bake Off Is A Slice Of British Brilliance

1. We Get SO Involved

The season 6 final was the most emotional Bake Off final there's ever been. It was always a bit of a nail-biter, but for the first time we watched the show happily and then sobbed like babies at the end. The finalists were close, beginning the emotional ending with a big group hug when Tamal admitted that he was close to

tears even though 'he's meant to be the strong one'. That got us feeling teary, but they didn't start rolling down our cheeks until Ian cracked – he went first, the entirety of Twitter followed. That was all lovely; we were crying sentimental tears of joy at such a great series with brilliant contestants we have big hopes for.

Then the winner was announced. (SPOILERS EVERYWHERE)

Nadiya was crying, her husband looked like he would burst with pride, one of her sons was crying and her daughter punched the air with joy. At this point we were in flood of tears. Nadiya got a congratulatory hug from Paul Hollywood, and Mary Berry wiped her tears away, Nadiya was speechless (and crying) and Tamal was sobbing just as much as we were. Then Nadiya made her winner's speech and we were completely gone. YES NADIYA.
