A TV drama is a long-term commitment for actors, and few really manage to maintain their level of performance for more than five seasons of so. With that in mind, The Walking Dead has more than likely already hit its peak in terms of its cast. Consider past shows like The X-Files, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, and even Family Guy (is Mila Kunis even still with the show at this point?), all of which hit serious road bumps later in their runs, mainly due to cast fatigue/other commitments made by their actors. Want to see The Walking Dead go down that road? No, of course not. And while The Walking Dead can be seen as more of an ensemble cast where actors (and characters) come and go, the loss of any of the core - Rick, Glenn, Daryl - will be a lot harder for the show to survive than the comics. As a result, a fatigued cast becomes a much bigger issue as the show shuffles onward.
