Unless you ask Robert Kirkman anyway. He'll tell you he has more than a decade's worth of stories left to tell. And the comics are more than one hundred issues of The Walking Dead ahead of where the TV show is. That said, episode counts don't exactly parallel comic book issues; indeed, you might fit the events of three or four issues into a single episode. On top of that, the show picks and chooses what it wants to use - consider that, for example, you have characters alive in one but dead in the other. Plus, fans are invested in the core group of characters - those are the stories they want to see, and that they will follow through to the end. Sure, you can bring in new characters, which The Walking Dead in both mediums has done, but television fans are much more fickle than comic book fans, and may not stick around once the current main characters are no longer with the show. Point being, the number of stories for the TV characters is limited. We've seen betrayals, affairs, untimely deaths, heartbreak, compassion, heroics, and the ugly side of humanity - how much is there really left to examine without the dreaded shark being jumped?
