6. She's The MCU's First Female Superhero Lead
Marvel has received considerable flack from female fans for their lack of representation in the MCU. Black Widow appears in multiple movies but has yet to headline one and has been left out of merchandising opportunities in the past. Daredevil season one frequently treated women as damsels in need of rescuing and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D...well, it actually does well by women but unfortunately no one is watching it. Though we've had the wonderful show Agent Carter, starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, that character is a non-superpowered spy. Jessica Jones is the first female Marvel lead to have superpowers and given what an impressive character she is, the show should go some way towards redressing the gender imbalance.
