10 Reasons Why Bob's Burgers Is Better Than Family Guy
1. Stronger Sense Of Family Unity
The comparable link between these two shows is that, as animated sitcoms, they both revolve around a typical American family. And yet, the Griffins and the Belchers are on two opposite ends of the spectrum.
The Belchers support each other no matter what they do. Whether it’s Tina’s erotic friend fiction, Gene being best friends with a toilet or Louise putting the family through constant money debt, Bob has always been patient with them and Linda has more than often supported their unusual hobbies. Bob and Linda are conveyed as an authentic couple – they have their disagreements and squabbles, but will always love each other unconditionally.
The Griffins, on the other hand, do not function as a unit. Peter and Lois’ marriage is a sham, the solely abused Meg is a mere afterthought these days, the show can’t decide whether the grown ups can understand Stewie or not and Brian’s character becomes more and more pointless each day. There’s just no true family dynamic.
Moreover, the Belchers crossover with realistic storylines that fans can identify with, from Bob’s financial struggles within his catering business to Tina’s high school dilemmas of fitting in and being socially accepted. There is the occasional outlandish storyline – like an attack of a mechanical land shark – but even those types of episodes are levelled out by the grounded realism presented through the Belcher family.
