10 Reasons Why Family Guy Is Better Than The Simpsons

10. Family Guy Is Edgier

It is undeniable that Family Guy is not afraid to push the edge of the acceptable boundaries; jokes about Michael J Fox€™s high profile battle with Parkinson€™s disease have caused public anger, but the show continues. The Simpsons humour was hilarious in its prime, but the type of humour is far less edgy than Seth MacFarlane€™s creation. By pushing the boundaries of humour we find ourselves laughing and then asking ourselves whether we are bad people for finding the joke funny. The Simpsons used to have some humour like this, but now Family Guy appears to have a monopoly on this type of humour. The recent Simpsons/Family Guy crossover shows this; the media was enraged by the inclusion of a rape joke, and although it was somewhat unpalatable, it is the type of humour that Family Guy excels with and it shows the limit of where The Simpsons can go. Sometimes Family Guy does go too far, but on the vast majority of times this is what makes it so amusing. We don€™t know what is off limits (if anything is off limits) so it is insurmountably more funny to watch Family Guy because we all know it could go almost anywhere.
