10 Reasons Why Family Guy Is Better Than The Simpsons

9. Celebrity Cameos

Both shows have had some high profile cameos. The Simpsons family has met nearly every mildly famous person in the United States; George H. W. Bush, Tony Blair, Blink 182 and Tony Hawk. The Griffin family have met equally diverse celebrity links; the entire cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Frank Sinatra Jr., and Charlie Sheen. The manner of these cameos is what makes Family Guy better. Whereas The Simpsons will use the celebrities for comedy material, Family Guy is far more likely to push the boundaries with stereotypes and jokes. In one memorable episode Peter Griffin makes a reference to an event being messier than Michael J Fox serving drinks. Peter then tells us that even they would not go that low, and then he proceeds to show the clip. This ties into the first point, but the ability to use celebrities to poke fun at themselves is something that The Simpsons has yet to catch up with. We couldn't talk about Family Guy celebrity cameos without recognising the work of Adam West. Family Guy have the one true Batman on as a regular occurrence; what do The Simpsons have to challenge this?
