10 Reasons Why Family Guy Is Better Than The Simpsons

4. Blue Harvest

Star Wars and Family Guy, could it be any cooler? Seth MacFarlane is a renowned geek; he loves Star Trek, and through Family Guy he bought together The Next Generation crew. However, Blue Harvest gave us a Family Guy parody of Star Wars. It showed that Family Guy characters could be adapted to fit different roles; The Simpsons has played around with this in numerous Treehouse of Horror episodes, but Blue Harvest was distinct as it was a feature length film. Chris, a rather unassuming member of the Griffin household was transformed into Luke Skywalker, and Lois took on the role of Princess Leia. Lois is obviously Chris€™ mother in the show, but in Blue Harvest the character was given enough of a twist to make it work; could you imagine Marge playing Bart€™s sister? Not only did they successfully parody A New Hope, but they continued by doing the same thing with The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This was not a feat of luck, the producers of the show had the ability and means to make this a success. The Simpsons has had some successful parody episodes, but they have not completed anything on this scale before.
