10 Reasons Why Family Guy Is Better Than The Simpsons

5. The Death Of Brian

Last year when €˜The Life of Brian€™ aired young adults across the world sobbed in collective sadness over the loss of a dear cast member. Brian was tragically mowed down by a careless driver, and he was replaced with Vinny. Mock funerals were held. People staged one minute silences in commiseration. And then, all of a sudden, he was back. Could The Simpsons have pulled this off? The €˜Who shot Mister Burns€™ storyline had the world captivated, but since then there has been very little publicity over the plot developments; Maude Flanders€™ death in 2000 increased viewership and fundamentally altered the show, but the public outcry was nowhere near as strong as the death of Brian. Some (perhaps moronic) dedicated fans had RIP Brian tattoos inked, leading to mockery after the episode retracting the death and bringing Brian back was aired. The lack of predictability was talked about earlier, but the fact that this event was heartbreaking to many people shows that Family Guy has a devoted fan base who are following episodes on a regular basis, whereas The Simpsons is more often viewed irregularly, depending on when it is on.
