10 Reasons Why South Park is Better Than The Simpsons

1. It€™s the Most Socially Important Show on TV

And finally, South Park beats the Simpsons because it€™s hands down the most important, socially relevant show (besides the News) on TV. Outsiders might not be aware of this, thanks to South Park€™s leagues of boycotters insisting that it€™s intentionally puerile evil. It€™s not though, not by a long shot. South Park has more love for its audience, and even for those things that it lampoons than anything else I€™ve seen. Take this episode for example: http://youtu.be/eNtDrUhcKyQ The above episode, Cartoon Wars, looks at the importance of free speech, and how ludicrous it is for a show like Family Guy, South Park, or any other animated TV show, to be taken so seriously that an episode could cause national panic. Of course, as the above clip reveals, Muhammed had already been featured as part of a previous season 5 episode, Super Best Friends, so the Cartoon Wars episode also subtly exposed an element of hypocrisy in its worldwide critics. As Kyle says, if we make a distinction between what is acceptable and what isn€™t, where do we draw the line? And in that respect, haven€™t the terrorist achieved their goal; to cause compliance through fear? No other show on TV, or that I€™ve ever seen on TV is making statements with this much power. And I doubt any other show could even get away with it. South Park€™s episode list to date is full of powerful moments like this and that€™s why it€™s easily the most socially important show on TV. And unfortunately, that€™s the final nail in the coffin of why South Park is easily better than The Simpsons. So there that is. Again, please don€™t think I€™m hating on The Simpsons €“ I still watch it to this day. But come on, stood next to South Park, almost nothing else can compare. Anything you€™d like to add? Screw you guys, I€™m going home!
