After his death in Season Eight (something many viewers aren't fully over), Carl left letters to all of his closest friends. The most important one he left was to his father. In it, he wrote about how Rick needed to stop the fighting and find a way to create a better future for everyone. Rick eventually followed through on his son's wishes, sparing Negan's life and allowing the remaining Saviours a chance to integrate with the rest of the Survivors.

Now that the show's coming to the end of its tenth season, Carl's vision for a better, more peaceful future has become more true than ever. Despite some slight blips and major fall-outs, and despite the threat of the Whisperers throwing a spanner in the works, all the communities are together as one - ready to protect each other, work together, and look for the world Carl wanted.

Once Beta and his new horde are dealt with, and the presence of the Commonwealth looming, the future Rick and his son fought for seems closer than ever, and watching it happen has been one of the show's greatest pleasures.
