10 Reasons Why We Need a Batman TV Show

8. No Reset Button

As mentioned before, a stable status quo just wouldn't work in a new Batman TV show. Developments should have real consequences that would have to be worked through. You€™d watch Batman learn, suffer, and eventually age as the show went on, and witness Gotham altering and adapting to the influence of this new champion of the night almost in real time. The first season would be Batman€™s Year One, the second his early battles with the €œfreaks€ like Joker and Riddler, the third an extended adaptation of €œKnightfall€ and so on. All of his experiences and adventures would be fixed in continuity, creating a rich tapestry of past glory and terror to be endlessly built upon. It would be an welcome break from the unsettling timelessness and fluid continuity of DC€™s mainstream comic fare; their huge, insanely convoluted ret-cons just wouldn't fly here, and like the D.C. Animated Universe, the show's creators could insure a consistent continuity from the get-go.
