9. All Your Fantasy Casting Can Finally Run Wild

The fevered speculation about who would play who in the long run-up to The Dark Knight Rises ran up against the sad fact that Nolan€™s ensemble cast was already pretty crowded with established characters, and his slightly suspect emphasis on €œgritty realism€ meant that there would always be a dearth of colourful characters in the final line-up. No Philip Seymour Hoffman Penguin for you, people! But when you have, say, a twenty-episode season to fill, it€™s time to cut loose. You might start to see some familiar faces poached to voice your favourite characters. Christina Hendricks as Poison Ivy for a two-episode arc, Alyson Hannigan as Oracle, Neil Patrick Harris as the Riddler€the squeals of fanboy and fangirl recognition would echo down the ages.
