8. Jamie And Claire Take Turns Saving One Another
In shows like these, it's easy for the female lead to become a damsel in distress. Not in Outlander. The show does a fantastic job of balancing Jamie and Claire's couple dynamic in a way that is believable.
With the premise of the show, it would be unrealistic to think that Claire would never need assistance getting herself out of the situations that she's walked blindly into. That being said, Jamie is just as often getting himself into trouble, and Claire is always trailing right behind, to the rescue.
It's certainly a refreshing change from the various historical fiction or fantasy series where the only two options for its female characters are meek and helpless or completely in control and able to get themselves out of situations on their own. That is not how real life works, even the strongest of women need help occasionally. Outlander does a meticulous job of striking a balance between the two.
