9. The Story Always Takes An Unexpected Turn
Just as you would want with any well-told story, Outlander has a knack for setting one thing up to happen and then heading off in a completely different direction. This is not always in the form of a giant plot twist either. Much like in reality, plans are made and then things get in the way of those plans that set our characters off on a completely different adventure. Most of the time, these adventures are a product of the choices the character makes, either immediately prior or in some cases much longer ago.
No spoilers, but the beginning of season two has one of the craziest and bravest openings of any other show on television. Let's just say it gives us a glimpse of what is to come later the season, and it creates a sense of anxiety as you watch the show lead you to that horrible outcome.
