What precisely is a holistic detective? Good question! Do we have any idea what the answer to that question is after two seasons of Dirk Gently? Absolutely not!
The best way to describe this show is that some dude basically goes about just letting the world occur around him. Whatever happens happens, and it's meant to happen. Usually these things are super weird. There's also...soul vampires? And a holistic hitman to contend with too. Look we know, alright? We don't really get it either, but trust us it's worth your time.
All of the above might put you off, maybe it did on the first go about, but honestly you have to stick with Dirk Gently. Also, do you know how stupid it sounds to describe something based on a Douglas Adams novel as "too weird"? Yeah, precisely.
Dirk Gently is so delightfully strange, quirky and over the top and what makes it all the better is just how much the show revels in these traits. When you think it can't get weirder, Dirk and Co. go ahead and turn it up to eleven...and way past that. On top of this, the characters are awesome - as is the relationship between Elijah Woods and Samuel Barnett - the music is incredible and trying to unravel just what the hell is going on is an absolute delight.
