10 Revived TV Shows That Should've Stayed Cancelled

2. Heroes

Futurama Bender's Big Score
NBC

A show that promised so much and ultimately delivered so little, Heroes stands as a great wasted opportunity. Its first season was a revelation, superheroics on the small screen like we had never seen before, with great characters, plots intertwining, a complex mythology, and an amazing baddie in Zachary Quinto’s Sylar.

Then, it dragged on for another three seasons. The second was the worst, blighted by the writers’ strike and some angles that went nowhere, but three and four never threatened to recapture the magic of the first. It ended, more neatly than we might have expected, and we assumed that was that. No one was clamouring for more Heroes (less, if anything).

So it’s hard to figure out just what NBC expected out of revival series Heroes Reborn, airing five years after the show went off the air. The superhero world had changed in the meantime, with the all-conquering MCU changing expectations.

The mini-series was received with ambivalence at best, and Heroes Reborn shuffled off our screens shortly after, with no talk of any more episodes. And quite right too!
