10 Rick & Morty Fates Worse Than Death

7. Being A Meeseeks Assigned To Jerry

Adult Swim

Meeseeks are simple creatures of a single purpose: to fulfil the task set forth for them. Once a Meeseeks is spawned and assigned a task, it does everything in its power to see that task through to its conclusion and, once the goal is achieved, it dies, vanishing in a puff of blue smoke.

But what happens if the Meeseeks can't fulfil its task? If the goal it's given is genuinely impossible? Wouldn't it continue to live forever, unable to die? Well, that's exactly what happens when Jerry Smith assigns a Meeseeks to help him take two strokes off his golf game. The Meeseeks' can-do attitude puts a smug grin on Jerry's face as he prepares himself for some easy self-improvement.

But Jerry is so abysmal at golf and so unwilling to be told what to do that the Meeseeks, try as he might, simply can't help him. The Meeseeks gets frustrated, and summons more of his brethren to help him fulfil his task, eventually amassing an entire army of frustrated Meeseeks who aren't used to living this long and simply want to die. They simply need to end what feels to them like eternal torment.
