10 Ridiculous Sitcoms You Won't Believe Ever Got Made

3. My Mother The Car (NBC, 1965 €“ 1966)

My-Mother-the-CarWhat€™s It About? When Jerry Van Dyke goes to buy a new car, he discovers that his mother has been reincarnated as a car from the late 1920s. Why Is It So Ridiculous? The description pretty much speaks for itself. A woman gets reincarnated as a car that is bought by her son who she communicates with through the radio. It€™s such a preposterous idea that I really hope mind altering drugs were involved its creation. It€™s just plain stupid in a way that doesn€™t allow it to hold up under any kind of scrutiny. It€™s also filled with horrible oedipal symbolism as we continually see Van Dyke driving his mother. What Happened To It? It was cancelled after a single season of thirty episodes.
