10 Ridiculous TV Premises You Won't Believe Were Real

6. Flockstars

Straight from the Alan Partridge school of TV commissioning, Flockstars aimed to answer the burning question on the nation’s lips: which D or below-level celebrity would make the best shepherd? Over the course of eight episodes, host Gabby Logan would find out.

Flockstars pitted eight celebs, including Tony Blackburn and the third most famous one out of N-Dubz, against each other in a selection of herding trials. Each star was partnered with a dog, and hilarity ensued as the hapless stars struggled to get to grips with the entirely unfamiliar task at hand.

High art it was not, but with the sensible decision to keep episodes at a nippy 30 minutes and the ever-present possibility of a minor celebrity tumbling into a pile of muck, Flockstars was better than you might imagine it would be.

It has not, as yet, returned for a second series, but Logan et al probably said all they needed to with the initial run. We all had a good laugh, and if the nation’s shepherds were afforded a little extra respect in the aftermath, then the job was done.
