Billy Connolly is a major name in British comedy in fact he is a household name thanks to his comedy. He first appeared on the scene in the 70s and is still working today making audiences laugh all over the world. Connolly was one of the first stand ups to break out from the stage and into mainstream movie success and perhaps more remarkably for a UK stand up Connolly is a big name in the States too. He will always however be best known as a stand-up comic as on a stage spinning one of his humorous long winded stories is one of the funniest things you might ever hope to see. Connolly inspired tons of current UK comedians to perform with his always swear word filled routines. Billy is also very personal when it comes to his on stage stories, he would hold nothing back about his life from his tales working on the shipyard to even just the business of growing old. In the early 80s Connolly was considered one of the most offence and blue comics around attacking figures like the Catholic church and his intense swearing which while common now was at the time frowned on for being vulgar.
