8. It Goes Away, Right?
BoJack and Hollyhock's relationship ended up being severed by Hollyhock in the light of all the terrible things he'd done to vulnerable young women, and she was undoubtedly better for it. However, there were a few brief moments in Hollyhock's time with BoJack which were sweet, if tinged with sadness.
In the episode Stupid Piece Of Sh*t, we see BoJack being plagued by harmful and self destructive thoughts. It creates a little bit of sympathy perhaps, but doesn't quite cover up the fact that he'd been a jackass to everyone. At the end of the episode though, BoJack goes and talks to Hollyhock, we she confesses her own thoughts.
She's also suffering through these thoughts, asking BoJack - unaware that he has them - if 'it goes away, right?'. BoJack decides to lie to her, telling her 'yeah', even though it hasn't for him.
It's a nice thing for him to do, but it's rather sad to think that Hollyhock might have the same demons that BJ does. Of course, she's being drugged with amphetamines by Bea at this point, so that has to be taken into account as well.
