7. Sun-Hwa Kwon & Jin-Soo Kwon - Lost
Fans didn't quite know what to make of Sun and Jin at first, not that anything was ever straightforward in Lost. A Korean married couple, we only saw Sun's personality initially, with Jin's lack of English relegating him to the background. Ironically, American actor Daniel Dae-Kim spoke English perfectly, relearning Korean for the role.
Because of this initial roadblock, they were all the more charming as their prominence in the show grew. Jin's sense of humour developed with his English, building an unexpected bond with cocksure conman Sawyer. Having given Jin the nickname 'Chewie' because of his silence, Sawyer seemed to enjoying being the Han Solo.
One thing that was never in doubt was the love Sun and Jin shared, and that's what makes their exit all the more tragic. Trapped as the room slowly fills with water, Sun begs Jin to leave and save himself. He promises to get her out of there, but it's no use. As they realise all hope is lost, Jin still refuses to go. He'll never leave the love of his life again. The pair kiss as the water rises, with the episode ending on a heart-wrenching shot of their lifeless hands drifting apart.
