10 Saved By The Bell Plots That Are Certifiably Insane

3. Punky Brewster Is The World's Richest Gold Digger

(From "Screech's Spaghetti Sauce") One of the more memorable episodes of the final season sees the gang producing a Today Show knockoff for local public access television as part of...umm...TV class? In the cooking segment, Screech cooks his special family recipe for a red sauce and everyone loves it, so Zack decides to market it to teenagers for some reason. Weird, but not necessarily CRAZY. Then it takes off. They shoot a commercial, and it gets even bigger. Screech is raking in the dough, and catches the attention of evil rich girl Robin, played by Soleil Moon Frye of Punky Brewster fame. She hates Screech and thinks he's gross, but she totally starts flirting with him when he gets money. They start "dating" and he starts showering her with gifts, which was what she was looking to get out of the relationship.
But...she's the rich girl. Not just any rich girl, but an EVIL rich girl. And the show already takes place in a pretty wealthy part of Los Angeles. She has money and is wearing what the producers think look like expensive clothes. Is she THAT cheap? Screech can't be making huge money selling pasta sauce to teenagers. Does her family refuse to spend money on the specific things she wants or give her an allowance? It's all very confusing. Then the "Betsy Crocker Cookbook" threatens to sue Screech since it's really their recipe. Somehow they trick Robin into buying the company outright and leaving Screech. Which doesn't really explain why she felt the need to kind of prostitute herself, but I'm not sure they meant to.
