10 Scariest Sci-Fi TV Shows Of All Time

7. The Man In The High Castle

All it takes is one change, and history falls apart. That's the essential premise of The Man in the High Castle, the story of an alternate reality where the combined Nazi and Japanese forces won World War II after the assassination of Franklin D. Roosevelt. They have taken over the United States, and divided it up between them.

Evidence of the Allies winning World War II in the form of films start popping up in this world, which is eventually followed by a portal between realities. The story unfolds from there, leading to a variety of interdimensional shenanigans. The added twist is that your counterpart in the other reality has to be dead for you to travel to it.

The alternate history trope isn't necessarily original but The Man in a High Castle makes it feel that way. The addition of the sci-fi interdimensional travel element took it to another level. Seeing the Axis powers in charge of the United States depicted so well might be one of the most frightening sights on TV today.
