10 Scariest Sci-Fi TV Shows Of All Time

6. The Outer Limits

There are those people that labelled The Outer Limits as a knockoff of The Twilight Zone. To an extent, a comparison could be made between the two. But where The Twilight Zone delved into supernatural and fantasy elements as well as science fiction, The Outer Limits tended to spend more time focused just on science fiction stories.

Hitting the airwaves in 1963, The Outer Limits only stayed on the air until 1965. Eventually, two different revivals aired between 1995 and 2001, eclipsing the run of the original franchise. While The Outer Limits had some exceptional episodes, it never had the success of The Twilight Zone nor did it become the same cultural phenomenon.

Still, The Outer Limits had some incredibly freaky episodes that influenced both horror and science fiction storytellers. "The Zanti Misfits" is generally regarded as the best episode of the original run. It told the story of an alien species manipulating humanity into doing its dirty work.
